Wifi better strength from far

Hello all. I need a bit of help see if one of your smart people can help me out. Here is my situation. I am trying to get WIFI to work better when the router is about 1/4 of a Mile away. Here is the story…..
My family lives in a country that there is no technology so there is no interference in the air meaning WIFI travels far. They finally have found a way to get WIFI at home but its very weak. They have connectivity issues. I want to see if someone can help me find a device that can help them get the signal better so that they get better speeds. This is what they do. They use this on the ROOF, its a WiFi adapter:

Then they use another program to make a HOTSPOT so that other devices can connect to the internet via WiFi:

I don’t know if this info will help someone understand what I need but, what I want is to buy something that they can use to get the WIFI better and be able to transmit WiFi of course. Yes I think we can use a wifi extendar to do what I ask, but the only one I know is weak and crapy, “Netgear WN3000RP Universal WIFI Range Extender”

But I think this will SUCK. I use it at work and its bad. I am looking for something better maybe?
I don’t know. I have said a lot and I hope someone can help me out please. I really need this. I just want to be able to connect with my family better so that their connection does not drop every 5 minutes.

You need a wifi power adapter, here’s an example, I haven’t used any for a long time so I can’t really recommend you one (the one I’m posting has reputable components though):

Using the “Outdoor Plus” adapter, as shown in Jack’s link, should be the go.
Then you will have good adapters at both ends of your link, plus it would put out a good signal if you are going to be an access point.

I think you’re going to be better off with a directional antenna rather than an omni-directional antenna. Here’s a pretty good link that explains them.

Thanks for the help. I will look into that Amazon link and buy that. Also, beachguy I was reading your article and I am a bit so fused because they never explain…. I don’t have any anccessnto the router sending out the wifi….. It’s in a hotel. I just have access to the signal so that’s how I use my adapter. So I wouldn’t be able to install or connect anything at the router location. Point to point seems like I need something coming out of router no?

^Yup, that’s correct I think. If you take a look at the “Outdoor Plus” adapter, at the last photo from Amazon it shows a useful installation way, you can find those rings easily. You should also attach a small cover above the device to protect it from the rain.
