McAfee firewall blocks my access to warez-bb

July 28th, 2013

I can’t figure out how to change the settings in McAfee to be able to leave the firewall on but also access warez-bb. I can access all other websites just not warez-bb. I have this problem with IE, google chrome and firefox. It started suddenly. Yesterday I still was able to access warez-bb and in the mean time I haven’t changed the settings of McAfee. Rebooting doesn’t solve the problem.
Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer #1
disable McAfee Firewall
Open McAfee Security Center
Click on Advanced Menu
Click on Configure
Click on Computer & Files
On Virus Protection choose Off
On Spyware Protection choose Off
Click on Internet & Network
On Firewall choose Off

Answer #6
taken from Mcafee themselves
Allow a website
When you add a website to the filter list and set the permission level to "allow," you ensure that your children can visit it when they browse the web. Before you can allow a website, however, you must assign your child to an age group.
Task
1 Open the Protect Your Family screen.
How?
2 Click the arrow next to the name of a user to expand the options, then click Optional Settings.
3 On the Optional Settings page, type the address of a website in the Website Address field.
4 Select Allow, then click Add.
5 To allow another website, repeat steps 3 and 4.
6 Click Done.

@Ste#: Thanks for looking into it. The quote you supplied us with is unfortunately one level down the hierarchy. It is just the family-settings page where you can block or unblock things, since I haven’t blocked anything there I can’t unblock it..
Though, I have searched on thanks to your insights and found the following for all McAfee-users: NetGuard is the problem. In the bottom ‘drawer’ of the Firewall-tab you see Net Guard. Turn this off, this is the one that automatically blocks acces to specific webpages the program finds dangerous.
It is working for me!

If a virus was legally free would you use it?
Its free cuz its crap and the ISP can give it away with out spending anything really.
I personally would never use an AV, but if you feel you need one, at least don’t use McAfee, its a waste of time.

Yeahh well, that analogy doesn’t really cut it for me. When surfing the planes of download-walhalla you will come across a virus or two, when surfing the planes of antivirus-software-download-walhalla you will come across a virus or two-zillion.. So far the program hasn’t let me down, unlike Symantec or NOD32, so I will keep using it.

Yes, that would have been the n00b-way to do it, how come I didn’t think of it thanks! Like the animation that goes with it even more, though
Answer #13
uninstall mcafee (because it sucks)
install kaspersky, eset, bitdefender
Answer #14

Wait, what? AVG? You would stay better with no AV than with AVG.
If you want a good Free antivirus use Avira and Malwarebytes with frequent scans.
Answer #15
Google Mcafee site exception. Or something on those lines. However you are probably the only one i have ever heard of to use mcafee.
I suggest switching.
Answer #16
I am using mcafee total protection version 11 and I had the same problem. I tried this and it worked for me. There is no need to disable firewall or uninstall mcafee.
1. Open Mcafee and click on firewall and then settings
2. Click on Net Guard
3. Net guard in normally turned on by default. You will some IP addresses which have been blocked. Delete those IP addresses.
4. Try accessing warez bb now. It should be accessible.
Answer #17
ty very much minova. Your procedure has worked for me.
