AVAST FREE is all you need
I have been using it forever, alerts me to anything that happens, no probs what so ever.
Just like wazz said, AVAST, MAL-BYTES
An if you need a firewall, I suggest PC Tools Plus
It’s Free

I heard that Avast isn’t very reliable, however I will check some more sources about it.
Kaspersky is probably the best option, but it ain’t free. I would prefer *free software…
Thank you for advice.

You really should search the forum first, there are tons of topics covering this subject.
Everyone has a different idea of what is the best, it all boils down to the anti viruses primary component, your brain. Don’t download and execute unsafe looking software without further research.
If you want a good all in one solution, you should get one of these:
ESET Smart Security
Bitdefender Internet Security
Kaspersky Internet Security

avast low resource usage, good protection,

I’ll say go for eset, and every 30 days just make a new account and get a new trial, Go for eset smart security It blocks of any pages with trojans/viruses and it doesn’t take up much memory and you don’t even feel it’s there, if you know what you are downloading then pick that one if you download random stuff and always transfer stuff from your friends pcs then go for something else but i would say go for eset been using it for a 8 months now without a single problem!

You don’t have to make a new trial every month, just get a username and password updated daily from one of the many password sites.
My favorite is nod325, but you should use Google to find them,

Yea, and ESET tries to be cute and block the site, saying it contains bad content, but they just don’t want you to get the key, lol.
You can always fix that in advanced setup by adding site site definitions in this location:

You heard wrong my friend, but then again it’s all a difference of opinion.
Avast offers great protection, even it’s freeware version is prime, I do the warez an torrent scene, AVAST detects what’s needed to be detected.
I personally feel no need to upgrade to AVAST PRO version, cause the freeware is supreme as it is.
Choice is your my friend, but like one member pointed out, just use the search feature in Helpdesk, their are tons of topics covering your titled discussion.

Realistically, only stupid people (or people with bad luck) get viruses. Even a simple AVG free will do very nicely.
Though what I will recommend (after having used 7+ anti-viruses) is ESET if your computer is on the slow end, or Kaspersky if your computer is on the newer faster end.
Nearly ALL anti-viruses are “safe, working (-finds viruses-) and reliable”.

I have been using KIS for years. Started with a cracked version, but now I am using a paid version. I love that software that is why I decided to pay for it. When I was using the free AV softwares I had to format my disc at least once a year. Now for the last four years no problems for me.I suggest you go for it.
