how to update in iOs 5 my iphone 3gs ? need it to jailbreak ?

Yes it need jailbreak, nd the correct firmware. You should check which Firmware is the latest (don t download from iTunes) go to google nd search for iPhone “technical” sites which offer the Jaibreak, there are few quality but i can t remember now. After you got there you will download the Software you need, checkout which is “crackable” and continue with an new iPhone. But don t download the latest from iPhone untill you check it s already supported by the Software.

2 ways
1st way
1. Plug in iPhone
2. Run iTunes
3. It will popup message that there is new iOS to download
4. Download and restore
5. It will do restore automatically after it download IPSW
2nd way
1. Download iOS 5 IPSW for iPhone 3Gs
2. Go in DFU (using iReb)
3. Open iTunes and do SHIFT + Restore
4. Add iOS 5 IPSW
5. Restore will start
Jailbreak.. that is OPTIONAL. You can jailbreak iOS 5 (TETHERED JB unless you don’t have old bootrom on iPhone 3GS then you will have UNTETHERED JB)… So that is it

You mean UNLOCK?!
Anyway, to unlock it you MUST have one of these basebands

If NOT then you are SOL!

There will be release of ultrasn0w for iOS5 but only in TERM OF COMPATIBILITY, not BB unlock! So this means almost nothing if you didn’t preserved your baseband before updating to iOS5! Take a look at picture above!
P.s. (atm ultrasn0w doesn’t support BB for iPhone 4 02.10.04, 03.10.01, 04.10.01, 04.11.08 and for 3G/3Gs 05.14.02, 05.15.04, 05.16.01, 05.16.02, 05.16.05)!

Download CUSTOM IPSW for iOS5 made by PWNage tool or made by sn0wbreeze (you can do it too), and go in DFU mode using iREB, and run iTunes, then do SHIFT+Restore, add that CUSTOM IPSW and restore will start!
