Can my website handle a lot of traffic?

October 22nd, 2013

How are you able to tell if your website is able to handle large amounts of traffic?
It downloads on average 5-10mbps and have 600mb of memory and 8gb of storage space.
How do you factor your website will do when there is massive amount of traffic? Is internet speed a dominant factor in this?

Do you really have to make a new topic for every single hosting question? It’d really be more beneficial to make a single one next time
you got loads of questions,Back on topic,What’s your monthly bandwidth limit? Is it a dedicated server or a VPS? If VPS specify the
platform too (openvz, xen, virtuzzo, vmware) You do realize there’s a difference between Mbps and MB/s right? If you downloaded
some files for testing via wget using SSH/Remote desktop and you saw X.X MB/s then that’s the actual speed,Mbps is a term reserved for broadband/Ethernet (where you divide in 8 to get the actual speed),How many visitors do you have in average?
If it runs Linux,Type top from SSH and see the memory usage.
Edit: Is that 600MB in actual memory or does it include swap too?
