How do you get free video games from companies?

November 8th, 2013

If you have a tech review website how do you make people want to give you free games for you to write articles about them? Do you ask them or what is the process? How do you prove you have a lot of traffic.

Ummm… you have to contact the people who r making the game…
Also you need good english skills, must be able to draw from storyline, graphics, rating (MA, R+18)
Also, you have to make yourself see-able (I.E. Promote yourself, put an add in the paper… normally is good if you work in a games store or article store, as companys trust them)
Also you have to have the police behind you…

You’d need to be a well received website that has had critical acclaim.
Sometimes, for the really big companies, such as PCGamer, they will just be sent the game without requesting, as it is beneficial for the developers to get the game review out to the wide market.
In the press team, I don’t know whether we’ve ever tried this, and if we did I’m not sure it would work due to the legal grey area.

Once you have a site, it’s really easy to get in touch with the PR people who promote the game. Just be aware, a lot of them follow up to make sure you actually wrote the reviews. If you write reliably you’ll be in the know for all kinds of games. Otherwise they pull you off their list. Good luck.

??? what’s it got to do with them ?
@jasonxman – if you clearly prove that you have an unbiased take on things, and clearly show what you are reviewing, and how you “tested” the products, you should be able to get hold of many things
eg. This site shows vids of how they used/setup products etc, lame site, but a good example.
