Windows 8.1 question

I bought my laptop at Best Buy a while ago, in November 2014. Eventually, a couple months after having it, it randomly deactivated itself. I tried following the steps I found on Google to re-activate it since it is a genuine copy, but I had no luck. I didn’t want to keep trying because it said the machine can get locked if you try too much, and I definitely didn’t want that to happen.
My question is,
if I used the activator from this forum, will it be activated again?
I can still use my laptop like normal. It’s just annoying when every few hours, the “windows is not activated” pops up. It’s inconvenient.

if its a genuine laptop and the key is legit, just activate it online or by phone and the problem will be solved. With a legit key you don’t need an activator
