Windows 7 or xp

August 5th, 2016

Hi guys I own a 1005ha netbook from asus with the 10.5 hour battery running xp. I’ve read lots of articles saying windows 7 has worse battery life than xp, but these articles came out before windows 7 was officially released so I’m guessing the drivers weren’t optimised for 7, and they don’t say whether aero was turned on or not. Has anybody tested windows 7 on their netbooks (with windows 7 drivers from the manufacturer) which was originally running xp and tell me whether the battery life became better or worse?

I agree I have windows 7 ultimate on my main pc and I love it too, but my main concern with my netbook is the battery life… Did the netbooks you installed windows 7 onto yield the same or greater battery life to xp?
Answer #4
Windows 7 has a greater battery life. It reduces power consuming devices and wireless usage etc. Windows 7 is more advanced and is really good. Windows XP is efficient and good but I feel it is old and tired.
Answer #5
Guess I’ll try windows 7 on my netbook then. Which version should I install? Should the starter version have the longest battery life because there is less features/functions I wont need? I read you can’t change the wallpaper though…
Answer #6
Starter is apalling. It has nothing. Use Home Premium.
Answer #7
Ok then, hope I get same battery life as xp.
Answer #8
Use Windows 7.
Answer #9
XP…

Windows 7, has its own XP mode or you can use another VM to virtualise XP if you really need it for some reason, not just the new eye candy in Win7 (Ive turned most of it off) its just better built and has some good features
