Windows 7 build 7057 – strange sound problem

March 25th, 2020

As the topic title says, I have a sound problem. The strange thing about that is, that when I’ve installed it on my laptop (Lenovo R61) -fres install -, the sound worked. Today, it stopped. I have everything unmuted, checked sound settings twice. It just doesnt work, and I don’t know why. Anyone else experienced this problem? Is there any solution, except reinstalling the whole system? I have a lots of things on it.. Thanks in advance for help
Answer #1
well did u change ANYTHING or installed anything between the time it worked and not worked? if so undo it, or try system recovery
Answer #2
I experienced low volume even though I had it on MAX volume but, I upgraded to build 7100 RC and everything went back to normal
EDIT – And maybe you should check your sound drivers. Maybe they got disabled or they need to be updated.
Answer #3
perhaps windows updated your audio drivers via windows update?
at least upgrade to RC1 and see what happens…

Okay, I’ve bought an iPhone yesterday, and installed iTunes. Then saw on Google that some people had problems with it, but didnt find any solution for fixing it. I’ve already tryed system recovery to 15th May, but it still doesnt working.
I think its that iTunes, but cant find any solution.
Answer #5
nah its not itunes m8, got it on 7077 & had it on 7057 with my ipod touch and it never killed my sound, check device manager make sure windows is picking up your sound card
Answer #6
Checked & reinstalled device driver, then installed SoundMAX for my Intel soundcard. Still any change. But the sound stopped working after installing iTunes yesterday. Then I’ve turned off my laptop and turned it again now. Now the sound does not work. Because I’ve didnt installed any other software since iTunes and there were other users having problems with sound regarding to iTunes application, i think its them. Maybe it doesnt like Intel soundcards…
Answer #7
Bad joke. Then you got two options : 1. Remove iTunes and see if it works again and use iTunes on another computer/laptop whichever you use.
OR
2. Upgrade to Build 7100 RC
Answer #8
Okay, okay it looks I don’t have any other opinion than upgrade, yes? One last question: Can I upgrade without formatting my HDD, therefore losing my files?
Thanks
Answer #9
Yes, upgrading just replaces the old files with the new ones, so no formatting included. BUT it is recommended that you backup your HDD because you never know what might happen.
Answer #10
That’s really strange. I’ve completely reinstalled the system to latest 7127 build. Complete reinstall was made because upgrading didn’t solve my problem. Even this didn’t solved my problem. I did a clean install on formatted HDD, but sound still not playing. But, when I’ll boot up a Linux LiveCD: the sound is working.
Really strange
