Will a slim PS3 play PS1 games or not?

I have a slim PS3 and was wondering if it will play PS1 games or not?

No only early phat ones,there are ps1 games on the playstation store that can be downloaded they will work.

nope it won’t.
a ps3 that has two USB’s will not play ps1 games. a ps3 *phat* that has 4 USB’s will play ps1 games.

It’s a damn shame. I guess Sony did it for cost cutting reasons. The reason why the current PS3 can’t play PS2 games is because it doesn’t have the on board chip that the fat PS3 had. Maybe the fat PS3 had an on board chip that allowed it to play PS1 games? Perhaps Sony figured that PS1 games would run poorly on the current hardware so it wasn’t worth the trouble to begin with.

Only the japanese market ps3’s had a ps2 chipset everywhere else had to do with firmware instead which didn’t run all ps2 games and even when a game would run sometimes very glitchy.

if u have cfw, then its possible to convert ps1 and 2 iso to pkg, u need an emulator for it and it works

the slim ps3 plays ps1 games fine the Super Slim will play them too

PSX and PS2 Games (PKG) works fine on my PS3 Slim with CFW. Just copy PSX Game (ISO) to PSXISO folder on PS3 and run it with MultiMan in Retro menu. PS2 Games you need to convert to PKG.
