Websites i cant view. Help!

August 12th, 2013

This has never been a problem, but lately there are more and more websites i cant see. When i try to open for example www.arsenal.com, firefox saying the connection was interrupted. Its like this with 5-6 other websites aswell.
When i try to open ~ Disallowed host. Please use another image host. ~, tinypic etc it shows up like this:

I tried to disable my anitvirus, but no luck. My brother also has the same problem, with the same websites (same network, with a cablerouter).
Anyone know a soloution to this?

Try using custom DNS such as OpenDNS or Google DNS.

Sounds like alot of work
The thing is, all theese websites used to work perfectly. But now suddenly more and more are getting “closed”..

Takes about 8 seconds to configure DNS from start to finish.
If your that lazy, you wont get anything fixed =(

Haha, i tried to get that OpenDNS, but i had to register and stuff? How does it work anyways? i register, download & install and all my websites are open again?
Answer #5
No registration, no download, no install. You just enter in the DNS server!
If you don’t know how to configure custom DNS, just Google it…

I use Google DNS. Just open Network and sharing->click on the lan or wireless or whatever ur connected to->properties->internet protocol version 4(ipv4)->properties->select use the following dns type,
Google DNS=
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

OpenDns=
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Your either being blocked by your ISP or your LAN or your Local Policy.

Sorry to break it to you, but it is “that”.
“that” is one of three different things. You apparently don’t wanna do any of the leg work to help us help you resolve this problem, so I am not going to waste more time explaining it.
But you need to go check the three things I mentioned, because one of them is your problem sir. Good luck =/

Well said !
Answer #14
You tried flushing your DNS cache ?
Close any browsers.
start > run > ipconfig /flushdns
Try then.
If no luck, it’s more than likely your ISP’s DNS server is a bag of shite – so contact them for an alternate, or use the ones suggested above.

This happens with me when net speed goes slow. Using VPN solves problem because VPN servers are fast.
Answer #16
firefox saying the connection was interrupted
That doesn’t sound like a DNS problem to me.
I’d expect a DNS problem to manifest itself as “could not resolve”, but once you get from domain name to IP, there’s nothing about the DNS that should be able to interfere with loading the page.
Interestingly enough, people across the web have solved their issue with various “techniques”, some even with disabling something ipv6 related.
For instance:
http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-57878-firefox-connection-interrupted
What comes to mind here is some weird phenomenon I’ve never quite understood: AAAA DNS lookups that would take seconds instead of fractions thereof thereby slowing down my internet considerably on linux machines. I doubt that”s relevant here though.
Something else that seems to helped more than one person is increasing(or lowering if it’s too high) their MTU value.
http://maasters.maas360.com/forum/expertise/finding-and-changing-the-mtu-in-windows-7/
You could run the command to display your current MTU and report back here.

WORKS!!!
@.GhostShot. :
I tried that aswell after i used a VPN, nothing worked.
So now the big question is, is there anything i can do to fix this without using a VPN all the time? And the same for my brother? Since we now know that i need a VPN to make the websites work.
