videos not working after downloaded

how can i view videos after downloading? is there a specific program/application? if anyone knows anything about this, it would be greatly appreciated!

1. where are you downloading it from?
2. are you downloading vids using realplayer? or other apps that can download off youtube and other third person video sharing sites?
3. what file type is the video?
4. what application are you using to view the videos? e.g realplayer, windows media player, quick player.
5. or are you downloading zip/rar files of the vids from file sharing sites e.g rapidshare, megaupload.
i need more info before you can get anymore help. be a bit more specific next time

if the files are compressed (rar, zip) use winrar to extract.
try KM Player. has built-in codecs to play almost all kind of videos. VLC Player, K-lite codec pack do all

if its .flv then use VLC to play it.
