USB cables are limited to 5 meters in general and 25 meters in total (only when a hub is used after each 5 meters).
It could work with 2 cables+hub (preferably a powered one),But there are other ways to go about it,You could
buy a router that supports 3G and the particular dongle,Or you could simply use a crossover Ethernet cable from
one PC to another and bridge the connections (Provided you have 2 PCs),Of course,The internet will only work
as long as the main PC (with the 3G dongle) is powered up.

You could use a 3G wireless N modem/router (or just router if you have the 3g dongle) on the second floor to receive the signal, and a wireless N adapter on your pc, that would work fine over 10m. Not exactly cheap though, maybe £40-£50.

I too use a 3G USB Modem and I too suffer the same problem. I have good signal (and speeds) near the window, but my PC is in the other side of the room. So I got a 5M USB cable and tied it to my balcony! If you do the same, then make sure you cover the dongle with some plastic bags, just in case it rains! And tie every plastic bag SEPARATELY so that if one knot goes bad, the other will hold!
You can get 10M USB cables cheap for around 300 on Lamington Road (if you are in Mumbai) or you can buy them on ebay for 499 here:

I forgot to post this earlier, I have one of these at home in case my phone line ever goes down (with my adsl)

Works fine over 10m anyway. There are plenty of other routers available if you have the 3G dongle.
You would have to add the cost of the wireless N adapter for your pc to that though.

This is the cheapest option you have. If you can’t purchase one, build one.
