Updating iPhone 4S

I want to update my 4S to 5.0.1 to fix the battery issue but I currently have some important messages and I know that when updating, it always deletes everything. Is there anyway to backup my messages? Thanks!

Make Backup with iTunes….? There is no other possible way because there is no jailbreak available for iPhone 4S so you CAN’T SSH into the phone!

iTunes backup will work.Also now as iOS 5 has OTA updates so nothing gets deleted.
