Trouble with new PC

August 1st, 2016

I got a new pc blah blah blah blah blah, I got a mobo with a onboard graphics card and I got a 9800GT aswell so I installed it all and it’s all been working fine then I realised it wasn’t using the 9800 so I went into the BIOS and disabled what I thought was the onboard graphics card now when I turn the PC on the screen doesn’t do anything at all, the light stays orange like it’s in power saving mode but it doesn’t say that on the screen. What the fukc is going on?
Answer #1
where is your monitor plugged in, the onboard port or the graphics card port?
Answer #2
I don’t know It’s just plugged into the back. I changed the settings in the BIOS saved and quit and then when the PC started back up the screen did nothing just stayed there with the orange light.
Answer #3
Reset your CMOS. Take out the small battery on your motherboard and unplug your computer from the wall. Wait around 20 seconds and plug it back in. Or if you can find a jumper to reset the CMOS on the motherboard try it as it’ll save you a bit of time
Answer #4
What does the small battery look like and what’s a jumper? I’m not very computer handy. lol
Answer #5
It is simple to identify the battery..it’s like circular shaped around one corner of your motherboard and then do as D r e a M said and if it not works for you then make sure that you have connected your monitor wire to proper place means if you are using your 9800GT card then to the output of graphic card and if onboard graphics then to output at back of your motherboard..

well check, if youve enabled the graphics card and using the port from the onboard graphics, you wont get a signal as its not being used.

red arrow is where onboard is plugged in
purple arrow is where 9800 would be plugged in
Answer #8
lol yeah Im guessing he didnt connect the cable to the card?
Answer #9
From what it sounds like…. 1) make sure you installed the card correctly. (physical).
2) make sure your video cable is connected to the right card (either on the MB) or directly on the card.
3) reset CMOS (looks like a watch battery on the MOBO, just take it out for 60 seconds and then reseat it)
4)reboot with all the correct connections in place…
oh and make sure your PSU can handle the card… You say you are not tech handy… so hopefully the system is able to handle everything.
Trial and error!
Answer #10
Right can someone explain exactly what to do with the cmos? I unplugged the pc took all the wires out, opened it up and took the cmos battery out for 60 seconds then put it back in and still nothing. Am I doing it wrong or do I need to use a jumper (whatever that is)
Answer #11

Answer #12
