SWTOR freezing problem

July 25th, 2016

Hello everyone. I figured I’d ask on this wonderful site. I’ve been having issues with SWTOR. Customer service -.- stops messaging me when I explain the whole problem. I called, and they aren’t much help either. The download of swtor at about 20gb took like 2 whole days to dl. I ran it perfectly fine for around 6 hours. I shut the laptop (specs below) down and wen’t to sleep. Later the next day I turned the pc on and opened it again. It worked for around an hour then froze sound studder and all. I thought “Ah, its fine it’ll work when I open it again. I opened it and it went to char select. I chose my char. Then it loaded all the way and I saw the complete hud and a black background. When I turn the blip of me on the map turned too. It remained black for around 7 minutes, finally I closed it. Now 95% of the time it freezes on the loading screen after char select. and when it does its only for a few seconds after I start moving then it freezes My laptop has a multiple monitor switch button in the f-keys. The game goes back to the loading screen and freezes. I use google a ton, thats why I’m never on here asking stuff. I’ve tried the few steps on the swtor site and nothing works. Does anyone have a fix for it or know something?

Is your laptop getting overly hot when the game runs?
Also just looked up the game specs there, your laptop is a bit on the low end side for this game. I’m surprised it played at all tbh
try playing on the lowest gfx settings possible.

Hmm, I think your video card might not be enough to handle the game. It might not even be compatible with the game, happened with many games on my old video card.

I noticed it got hot the first time I played, so I got a fan for underneath the laptop. and support didn’t say anything about the laptop not being able to run it. I always play games on the lowest gfx possible. That way I don’t have to deal with freezing or slow gameplay. Thanks anyway guys
