SQL Server Connection

Im downsizing from backup exec with Symantec System Recovery 2011 Management (as ive no tape drives and its backup to disk speed is much slower than system recovery).
Im stuck on the SQL server page, Im using 2008 R2 Data Center (both os and sql version) and in the documentation it says its supported (Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2, or Express Edition) But i cant seem to get it to connect
Ive tried just the instance name, localhost\instance name, servername\instancename and pre2000servername\instnace name but i keep getting the same responce

Can anyone suggest what im doing wrong ?

Try just the hostname without the slash and instance name.
