Sims 3 Installation, remove Updates and UpdatesMac!

As stated in topic, have anyone of you ever think of removing these 2 folder in the installation since The Sims 3 patches actually includes all fix in one patch.
So I was wondering, is it possible to remove the 2 folders and save some space (Alot actually). For example High End Loft stuff pack only consist of 200+MB ingame files while the others are updates…
I think it will work because I have generation which doesn’t have the 2 folders and the whole installation file is just 0.97GB
