Rendering Size in Sony Vegas

August 16th, 2013

I’m using Sony Vegas as a video editor for my gaming channel. However, it seems that sizes of video files are, roughly said, too big. Using .mkv I get around 250mb for 5min video on 720p with both 25/29 FPS, and with .wmv I get around 400MB for 10 min. I see movies of 1h around here with 720p with 400mb of size.
Anyhow, if there’s a way to shrink this a bit it would be really helpful. Thanks!

Reduce the bitrate.
You can do this by either going to render as – (wmv) – template – Choose your desired bitrate. For more advanced settings you can press custom and change more (although the major factor in filesize is bitrate).
Size=Time x Bitrate.
If you want to upload it to youtube I’d save it as a high bitrate .wmv file and just delete if when uploaded.
