Receiving a dsl connection from a cat5 line in my house

September 7th, 2013

So, here’s the situation. In our house, my bedroom is far away from where the DSL modem is. However, I would like to receive a wired DSL connection in here without running a cat5 cable all the way from the modem. Since the phone jacks are already wired in cat5 in our house, can I gain a DSL connection from any phone jack in the house, or still only through the DSL modem? Help very much appreciated because the wireless N signal in here sucks.
I guess basically what I’m asking is, if you have DSL, can you connect to it through any phone jack if you have cat5 phone line? Or do you still have to connect through the DSL modem?

You must connect directly to the modem as you need the signal that has been processed by it..
I guess your modem is required where it is or you could move it to a phone socket in your room.
The other option is to use a wireless modem router and pick it up wirelessly in your room.
