Programs start for a second then automatically quit

So this happened in the past with firefox.exe I believe but now its doing it with wmp.exe (Windows Media Player)
When I click on the icon to start WMP 11 (for Vista). The program will start for a second in the processes manager then automatically quit. No matter what I do, I can’t get the program to stay running. I have tried restarting a couple times and still no change. I was going to reinstall WMP but the vista version 11.0.6 isn’t available for download anywhere that I can find. Any help would be great!!!

WMP for Vista isn’t available from microsofts site
but I had to result to doing a system restore a couple days back…that fixed it.
