Possible to play mkv files in iPod touch without conversion?

I got a query reg the new iPod touch with iOS 4. Is it possible to actually play the mkv files (say the ones from ultrascorp or shannig that we find in this forum) without converting them first?
Since i do not own the device yet, can anyone owning it plz confirm.
