August 4th, 2016
I have PC with windows 8 PRO with some softwares installed on it . I need to make a image of the whole Windows with all of softwares in it for my laptop .(HP 6190)
Is possible or not ? Does it do any harm ?
Please help how can i do it ? better if it is bootable & not installable.
thanks a lot.
I would step out on a limb and say yes it is possible and doable to create the wanted image.
I would image the drive with Clonezilla.

Does it work with all systems ? I don’t want to install backup sofwares , can you please suggest one that doesn’t need to be installed for making image?
it will be a waste of time … the registry ,the drivers ,the chips , the internal and external devices , were all checked when Windows was installed onto your pc , and are these different for the laptop , so you will have to do a new install ….
Yes you can do this, Sysprep.exe is what makes it all possible.
In short you
1) Install the os on a VM (if you only have one computer) or the target hardware (I do this to embed just the NVIDIA drivers and GeForce experience don’t install all your drivers just the graphics and RAID) 2) Install your software and configure/crack it
3) Make whatever changes you want to the registry/services/security policy etc optional 4) Run sysprep.exe in C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep, Check generalise and select shutdown from the shutdown options + click ok
5) Don’t restart the computer when it shuts down, Now you image the drive using the software of your choosing. You don’t need any fancy restore anywhere options just straight disk imaging. Just get the image of the disk onto some other drive.
6) After that’s done you can now restore the image you made to your os drive or just boot the computer
This can be used on any computer.
So to summarise Install os+software > sysprep.exe with generalise and shutdown selected > image the disk using a boot cd or whatever just don’t boot from the disk until its imaged > Reboot or restore the image to any computer.
You can also modify the source .wim images to enable features insert keys updates software (but not configure them) change languages etc.

you mean I install a clean windows 8 Pro without drivers & just softwares ? Is there other ways to do this with my PC .it’s really hard to install another one for me,

I’m interested in this too.
so basically what you’re saying is:
fresh install of windows 8, configure your stuff, apps and so on. do what you said above and I can restore the OS to a completely different computer?
Yes a completely different PC, which is what you’d be doing anyway if your installing to a VM and then dumping the image to your PC.
aslong as you don’t do something silly like trying to install windows 8 x64 on an old 32bit computer it should work. Keep the drivers installed in the image to a minimum.

probably best to enable hyperV and create a virtual machine then, You don’t want all your files and logins saved into this image that your deploying to different computers.
Restoring to a different computer with different hardware might or might not work..
The only way to tell is to try it..
Make a backup image..
Restore the image to the other computer..
First boot..Press F8 and boot to safe Mode..
Uninstall all the drivers and reboot..
If all works well..Install the drivers for the new hardware..

but you don’t said with which software is it working best ?should i delete all of my drivers for making image…
The only software you need is disk imaging software any one will do.
ugh, I’m still lost.
any chance you can do a tutorial? cause’ I wanna do this, put the OS I’m on, on to different systems.

Try this. But the disk imaging or cloning will depend on the software you are using.
