Need help with Upgrade.

July 28th, 2013

Hey guys! I’ve recently sold the rig of my signature (only Q9400’s left to go atm)
and tomorrow I’m getting my hands on:
Mobo: ASRock P55M Pro
CPU: Intel Core i7-870 Processor
(8M Cache, 2.93 GHz) (4 cores + 4 HT, plus turbo on 3,6)
RAM: 8GB – 2 pairs of 4gb not sure on model.
Which I will fill with my HD6850 which I didn’t sell. Thing is, although the motherboard supports CF, I don’t want to do it because the second pci-e is x4 and not x8 or x16 too. So I could sell the HD6850 and with some more spare money buy a new and better one! Thing is I don’t know which exactly!
I’ve though selling it and buying the same but in 2GB Version, but that would be dumb. Should I go for HD6870(2GB) or HD6950(1GB/2GB)? Or nVidia? Some advise would be nice, thanks in advance!

Answer #1
Get a 580ti
Answer #2
That’s way too much, I can’t really afford one!
Answer #3
I saw a benchmark on Youtube regarding the PCI-E speeds (if that’s the correct terminology)
This guy put in a good graphics card into the 16x slot, ran the benchmark. He then put the graphics card into the x4 / x8 slot (cant remember which), and there wasn’t much of a difference.
I’ll see if I can find it.
EDIT:
Here you go, I think this was the video that I watched.

Why on earth are you going to buy an i7 1st generation processor? You should go for 2nd gen processors with z68 platform. They are a lot more faster.
Answer #5
Because this pack comes like 50% cheaper from what a new i5 2500k would of cost me, I’ll buy it a cooler, some more ram, and keep it atleast another year before upgrading to something new..
Answer #6
Hd series is the best man, 6950 1 gb for more speed
