Firstly when you are looking at laptops, Try and buy the cheapest one at all, In all honesty their is no need for any graphics card, Because none will handle any games at all. So If I was you go for the chapest laptop/netbook if you need one for conveniance, and get a good desktop.
Answer #2
Don’t buy a Dell.
Answer #3
I would never buy Acer Aspire :S crappy laptop… Go for HP or Dell!

I do not agree with that at all. I have a Sony VAIO, and I can play games on it perfectly, MW2 for example gives no problems.

Yes that is because modern warfare 2 is not an up to date game in terms of demand. It is the same spec requirements as cod4. I am sure that you would struggle to run gta 4. They are moving on, and developers like activison ruin it my keeping the same specs each release.

Could perfectly be, but I have a good laptop, and I don’t really need it to play games on it, as I can play those on a desktop :p. You have your point, because desktops mustn’t be so small, so it’s easier for the developpers of it, to make it more powerfull. But I still do not agree with ”go and buy the cheapest netbook you find”.

Answer #11
I’ve got an Acer and they are quite good…had it for about 2yrs and never had a problem with it…HP & Dells aren’t too good in my experience
Think about what your aere going to do on your laptop and find the specs based around this…if you play games get one with a good GFX card…if you download alot you need alot of HDD etc.
Answer #12

You can try a Qosmio (Toshiba):
 http://laptops.toshiba.com/laptops/qosmio/X500/X505-Q830
Specs are on that page.
There’s also the Dell Studio 17 for even less:
http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dndotw1&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19
(click on “Review System” to see the default specs)
The Dell has a 500GB HD compared to the Acer’s and Qosmio’s 320GB. It all depends on what you need from your laptop really. Alienware might be the most powerful out there (what ever happened to Voodoo?), but it’s way too expensive.
Answer #15
I have an Acer myself, and it’s awesome. I run games like WoW and CoD4 without problems on it. I only do some Photoshop and schoolwork on it without problems. Most of these “Don’t buy this or that” comments are from fanboys and should be ignored. All stuff got both upsides and downsides, and whatever you go for I think you’ll be satisfied, and lost as you stay in the same range of laptops. If you should be so unlucky to get any problems (which ALL computers can get, not only Dell, Acer or anything else), then you simply deliver it where you bought it, and it’ll be fixed.
I hope this could help you out a little, good luck on getting your new laptop.
EDIT: I also see there are people suggesting Alienware laptops, this should be your last way out. There are many other places you can buy a more powerfull laptop for less money. Alienware charges more for their machines because of the design, and because Alienware is a well-known brand. Unless you have a lot of money that you don’t need, you shouldn’t even think about going for a Alienware.

Such as what? And where? I know other companies sell high end laptops for less, but I have yet to actually find one. If you know of any, you would save thousands of singles lives
