Migrate Or Clone – using Acronis

September 26th, 2017

I will be getting a 120G Samsung 840 SSD drive as the primary drive to house windows 8.
Bought a Dell PC that comes with a Pre-installed Windows 8 and a Recovery Parition on a 2TB SATA Drive
What I want to do is , obviously , Copy the Pre-installed Windows 8 + Recovery 2 TB drive on to the 120 G SSD drive, without having to Reinstall Windows 8 and, furthermore, I do NOT have the Windows 8 , Start up CD/DVD from Dell..
Read about “alligments” of the OS, if I Clone it and is better to do a Migration procedure instead. And still some suggested a Fresh install of the OS, to prevent all the alligment problems.
Currently, I have NO Apps installed , just the Mcafee Security that comes with the Package and Microsoft Updates.
Please advise…Thanks

I’m not sure if you’ll be able to do that with acronis, any time i’ve tried to clone a larger HDD to a smaller HDD (even when there is enough space) it would not let me.

He’ll be able to do it with true image just fine, It has a disk cloning wizard feature for this
exact purpose. I’ve used it before a number of times and it didn’t disappoint!

I read about suggestions using the – Universal Restore Disk . since the 2 HD are different in Hardware. What do U think?

As said before, You should use the disk cloning wizard, Just look it up on the menus.
It’d work 100%, No need to look for other solutions!
