laptop memory

January 22nd, 2020

right so I want to upgrade the laptop memory which is ddr3 and supports 1066/1333, currently my setup is 4+2gb as standard with the toshiba qosmio x500-134.
My problem is searching intel i7 q740 says it can only see a max of 8gb, on other forums people have stuck 16gb in but the laptop would run on single channel than dual channel.
I take it the laptop would have no problem seeing 16gb of memory as windows 8 can see 512gb but whats the different between dual and single or is it better sticking to 8gb max ?

Answer #1
your motherboard probably has the limit to how much ram you can use. 8GB is way more then enough

that’s a load of lies, mate. if your mobo supports 8gb max and you put in 16gb, you’ll only see 8gb. but as said above 8gb is more than enough.
Answer #3
i see just stick to the max of 2x4gb, suppose timings are important but any brand better than others?
Answer #4
Yeah it depends on How much ram your motherboard can handle and 8gb is way more than enough Depends mostly on specs of motherboard
