Is whoisguard necessary?

September 22nd, 2013

I have the option to purchase “whoisguard” for my website. It does this:
When you purchase and enable WhoisGuard on your domain, we make the following changes in public WHOIS :
Replace your postal address with our address.
Replace your phone number and fax number with our phone and fax numbers.
Replace your email address with a uniquely-generated “xyz.protect@whoisguard.com” email address. Every email that is sent to the WhoisGuard address is forwarded to an email address of your choice.
Is this worth the money? As you only pay an extra $3 a year. Want to know what you guys think.

Answer #1
I wouldn’t worry about it unless you wanted to hide your whois information.
Answer #2
Most quality host offer private whois services along with the hosting for free.
You can look at your whois information and see what it is. Nobody on this forum can decide if you feel that information should be public or private. You gotta make that decision man, lol.
