Adblock Plus and Adblock have decided to be partners with some default whitelist that by default allows normal advertising as long as it’s not a flash banner or involve any sounds. Basically they are dead to me. I now use something much better that I should have never left in the first place. No it’s not NoScript. It’s Ad Muncher.
It takes less memory than adblock extensions. The biggest advantage however is it completely stops adverts from being downloaded thus saving on bandwidth. Since chrome doesn’t allow extensions to modify the engine like firefox does, this means you still download the adverts but they are simply not displayed. Honestly I can say my page loading is now faster on a site hammered with pop ups/adverts/banners etc. Try it you might like it.
