hp pavilion dv5..not able to install win xp getting error

hi frnds
i have hp pavilion dv5 laptop it has come wit win vista but i would like windows xp when i try to install xp windows will load files and when windows is starting up i will get error of blue screen i tried many times wit diff cd same prob, but i tried win 7 it got installed,i need windows xp so pls tell me which one to install wats the prob…

Are you trying to install just Windows XP or Windows XP with SP3?

Hey,
If you are trying to install the Windows XP from scratch on the laptop, please BE SURE that you put the Hard Drive on “Compatibility” mode in BIOS, which was defaulted to “AHCI” (Compatibility is also known as IDE).
Otherwise, you will experience the “blue screen” issue. To change that setting, you need to do the following:
1. Go in BIOS
2. Select ‘Config’, then ‘Serial ATA (SATA)’
3. Change controller option to ‘Compatibility’ / ‘IDE’
I helped a friend with the same prob and this solved the problem, so hopefully it helps you too, otherwise lemme know and I’ll try to find you another solution.

the bios in that is diff bro not getting those settings….should i update the bios r wat…..will try again see wait..thanks for the reply

Have you installed new components on your machin before the installation? Does it beep when you start?? If it does lemme know how many.

I had installed XP in DV41414tx after downloading HP edition of XP from this forum. It installed nicely, but there is no driver support for it form hp i.e. VGA , sound, touch panel etc. so stick on Windows 7. It is nice enough than XP.
