Its not “suspicious behavior” its account verification.
And if you dislike it, boycott facebook, its useless.

I second these statements.
People should take some time to step back and realise the amount of privacy they are compromising by using sites like Twitter and Facebook.
Answer #3
FB has no right to get my phone number and because it did it after years that i put lots of info on FB, this is hustle. if it had asked during sign up, i’d never register.

LOL! You think people make a policy, and use it for ever and never change it?
Welcome to the world, change is real. Some things change for the better, some things change for the worse.
I already told you, if you don’t like it, boycott them. That is our only leverage.
Answer #7
so, there’s no way that i get access to my account like by the help of a website ?
Answer #8
Just use an old simcard or something.
Answer #9
@etis: simply ignore it and click on your Notifications icon or the Facebook masthead itself to go to some other page, and they won’t badger you about it, until the next time you login. (Yes, you do have to bear with that).

I’m pretty sure that you would have to keep the sim card around, so that you could use it for verification purposes.
but otherwise, this is a great alternative to giving them your number that you frequently use
