How do you change a mac address on actiontec verizon fios?

So I have the actiontec MI424WR REV E. How do I change or clone the mac address? I did clone mac address but when I click apply I have no internet connection but can still go into the router to change settings. So how do I successful clone my mac address?

you probably just have to unplug the modem and router at the same time, for a few seconds, then plug them back in, this resets them, and after a bit you should have the internet back. of course, take note of the original settings on the router before doing this, you may have a static IP, or some other type of setting which prevents changing the MAC address and working properly.

None of that has anything to do with changing your MAC address. If you want to actually change your MAC address you will have to hack your modem

That just works on IP address which I already know how to do. Mac address has nothing to do with IP address they’re two totally different things.What exactly are you trying to do... what are you cloning your mac address for. I was using cheats for this game on my computer and I got tired of cheating and I can’t do surveys for that game to get free money on my computer so I wanna try and clone or change my mac address. I already changed my ip like two times just to make sure and I still can’t do surveys and even thought I opened a ticket they just automatically close it. I also can’t make new account on there because I think they blocked my routers mac address or something anyways can you please tell me how to clone my mac address successfully or change it?

None of that has anything to do with changing your MAC address. If you want to actually change your MAC address you will have to hack your modem he was talking about the cloned MAC address in the router, the modems MAC address can’t be changed unless the modem is hacked. so, yes, it actually is pertinent. some ISPs require you to tell them the MAC address you are using(cloned), and you can only use that one, unless you notify them(maybe not in this case maybe a reboot will get internet access back), also, changing the (cloned)MAC address in the router gets you a new IP address, since the IP address is partly based on the (cloned)MAC address, and changing the (cloned)MAC address in the router requires a rebooting of the router and modem. as far as getting a hacked modem, the FBI shut those places down, and those modems are too easy to spot for the cable companies, so it’s not worth it. here’s an explanation of how they can’t get your MAC address. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1148249 the site you want to access is probably using cookies and temp files in your browser to identify you. clear those and re-try it with a new IP
