Help with overclocking

September 26th, 2013

If i was to get an i5 2500k and a z68 board how difficult would it be to safely overclock? and if i did overclock for example would it make the computer really loud? thanks
Answer #1
Depends on the cooling you are using.
Overclocking a 2500k is simples and you should have no problem even as a complete noob getting a decent overclock.
Answer #2
if you have a decent cooler and cooling you should OC easily without having the fans blazing at full speed
Answer #3
With those click bios, anybody can overclock a cpu. The fans may get loud depending on which cooler you’re getting, and how much you overclock.
Answer #4
If you don’t know the answers to those two basic questions, overclocking is not for you.

Just use google for overclocking tips, and get a good cpu cooler to avoid a lot of heat and noctua fans for quietness.

4.7GHz is pretty much guaranteed with an i5 2500K. 47 multi and a tad bit of extra voltage is all it takes. Auto settings for the rest works fine. Ymmv

More importantly, its not even that you don’t know how to overclock, its the fact you don’t know how to type your question into Google.

Bullocks, you’ve got the multiplier and you can only overclock with the multiplier anyway, try the base clock and you have instability.
