front panel motherboard connectors

December 22nd, 2018

hi, i just got a new PC and i noticed that the front pa connectors are disconnected, i tried to plug in looking some diagrams from the manual, but it didn’t work. The connectors says “P LED +” and also “P LED -“, “RESET SW”, “POWER SW” and “HDD LED”.
I dont have any experience about motherboard things, so anyone can help me or could tell me the way that should be connected?
The motherboard is an Intel D915GAG.

Bit strange that they weren’t connected…Anyhow you seem to have identified the required connectors.
Google “how to connect pc front pa” will bring lots of info..
This one shows the cables from the front pa being plugged in..

Quite often the Power (P) led cable and the Hard Disk Drive led (HDD) cable are not marked with ‘+’ ‘0r ‘-‘.
So if the leds don’t light when they should, just tip the plug around 180 degrees to reverse the polarity.
It doesn’t matter which direction the Power and Reset switches are connected.
See how you go with that.

Here’s your motherboard manual:
http://downloadmirror.intel.com/15197/eng/D915GAV_D915GAG_D915GEV_D915GUX_ProductGuide02_English.pdf
Refer to pages 44 & 46. And for connecting the front USB ports, Refer to this guide:
http://www.directron.com/installusb.html
If you’ve done this correctly and it still doesn’t work, Then it indicates a problem
with the Motherboard or PSU.
also i tried to change the PSU and nothing happened.
And this PSU was borrowed from another computer or was it brand new?
FYI, New PSU’s come OFF by default! (They have an on/off switch on the back)
Also, Did you connect the main (24PIN) connector to the motherboard?
Answer #6
Can you post a photo of the wires?
There should be an LED on your motherboard so you’ll at least know if the PSU is powering that. You’ll need to check where each wire is coming from, and attaching them in pairs.
e.g. check where the power button wires are, and add them. Try turn it on, if it works move onto the next pair. if not, try in a different position.
continue in this fashion until they all work.
