August 1st, 2016

I have an image file for system partition c: after installing windows 7 x64 to use the full capacity of ram but it has compatibility issues so I tried to get back to use the image with Norton Ghost which came with hirens boot cd but unfortunately after 14% from restoring process I get error message that image is corrupted!!!

You can extract the image using Ghostexp..
Ghost explorer is included in Hiren’s BootCD

Try following ‘s suggestion. But don’t get your hopes high. There is a big chance that the image is really corrupted and in that case you won’t have a one click solution.

thank you very much for replies, yeah i aready tried ghost explorer and the main problem for me now that ghost from hirens boot cd dosnt make ghs files but just gho single file and ghost explorer which i downloaded from internet it just a single exe file always ask me to select the ghs file and as i said i dont have what ghost explorer requesting so what should i do?!!
btw, 1st time try to install w7 x64 it didnt install unless i changed the boot order in bios setup as some on internet recommended, and as i remember in the boot sequence there was strange item in the 1st order taking the same hard drive serial no. like uefi or something then 2nd order was the dvd but before i change the dvd to the 1st i was able to boot from the dvd normally so i dont know whats wrong i even cant get this item again whatever i reset the default settings in bios?!! how could be the image corrupted and nothing changed except installing this crap x64 version?!!
i said many questions hope i get a solution because i have important files on desktop i want to get it back

Ghost explorer supports gho images..I just tested and it opened the image no problem..
I know this doesn’t answer your problem…But in the future you might consider giving ghost a miss as it’s out of date..
I suggest using Acronis True Image..It’s more reliable..

I confirm that the latest versions of Ghost explorer can open .gho images. If you have a UEFI computer and a GPT partition table(typical on not so old computers) you have to install Windows in UEFI mode. You have to boot it(preferably through USB) using the UEFI listing. Make a bootable USB with the Windows image using Rufus and select UEFI or GPT and not mbr. When you have the image ready, you can install the x64 version of Windows 7. The problem may be exactly this: you are trying to install Windows 7 on a GPT disk without UEFI mode.
You should download the latest Ghost explorer and check the integrity. Edit: I just searched on the net. Ghost doesn’t support UEFI. If you are using an UEFI computer, then this is a problem.

.. look, thats what happening.. i open it then browse for system.gho file and select it after this step i get another browse window telling me to select the ghs file which created with gho file, i read about ghs extension and it created when ghost splitting image files but in my case i never split images i used to make images as single file from hirens bootcd thats it!
btw, hirens bootcd doesnt listed when i boot from cd but apear when i open the cd from windows!! so what should i do to browse gho file its about 7 gb high compressed in just 1 file how could be ghost create one file wihtout ability to browse it without ghs files which should be for splitted files not for one file
.. you misunderstood what i said, the image contain a windows 7 x86 from partition c and its a normal ntfs partition, when i started to install a windows 7 x64 then setup told me there is an error “the selected disk has an mbr prtition table, on efi systems, windows can only installed on gpt disks”so after search on google i found someone say i can bypass this error by set the boot sequence order to dvd 1st and thats what i did but as i said there was an item in the 1st boot order list with same system disk serial no. then i opened the setup again but this time the error changed with other message but i dont remember what is it but as i remember i deleted partition c then created new one with the same size as it was before then formated it all that inside windows setup then the setup completed and windows loaded!
