Downloading games for the Wii.

August 5th, 2016

Hey guys, im pretty new to the Wii scene, a friend of mine bought one and he wants to know if he can download games for it.
I’ve heard of stuff like Wiikey or something like that but all the 3 Wii hacks require a CHIP to be inserted into the wii.
Is this the only way to play downloaded games on the Wii, with a chip?
btw does the wii read DVDs?
cause it looks like all the games for it are CDs, and it won’t read DVD movies.
thanks in advance.

The Wii does read DVDs and as far as I know the ModChip is the best way (perhaps the only way) of playing downloaded games. Good luck mate ^_^
Answer #2
i own a modded wii so i know all about this
basically the only way to download and play games on wii is to get a modchip
the best and most popular modchip is wiikey (all modchips pretty much feature same stuff but this is the most common used)
but newer wiis are produced with different components inside so only certain modchips will work with them like D2CKEY it is more expensive to have on of these installed you can download wii games and burn them to a dvd-r or + and it will work most of the time (some wii games will not work with other regions but alot of games are compatible with both pal and ntsc consoles) and also there is 1 game which has problems as it “detects modchips” it is super mario galaxy atm wiikey and cyclowiz chips have updates to overcome it so you can play it and D2CKEY already plays it without any thing need to be done…should be enough info :O
