Does BT infinity and Virgin fibre optic network use…

Ethernet cables ?
I wondered before switching over in 2012..

What do you mean does it use “ethernet” cables ? Internal to your house or outside ?
btw – it’s only fibre up to the street cabinet.

all that the engineers do is just wire a fibre cable from the exchange to the property correct?

From the exchange to the street cabinet. (The big green box with BT written on it, usually grey for cable)
Then it’s exactly the same as it is now from the street cabinet to your property.
BT uses a vDSL modem/router internally, not sure what Virgin use.

All modems/routers use Ethernet cables
The black fibre cable goes from ur outside ur property to the street cabinet
I signed up wit virgin media 20mb back in 2009. They gav me free white virgin media netgear router and a black virgin media modem

It’s fibre from the exchange to cabinet, then to original crap copper wire to your house and up to a router/decoder, then Ethernet or wireless to your computer or lappytop.

I’m not sure about BT, but my old Virgin fibre connection used a fibre optic connection to a single port in the house, where it was forwarded using a cable adapter to a CAT5E output, which was connected to a D-Link wireless router.
The wireless router provided 4 additional Ethernet ports.
