Do SSD’s need firmware and Bios tweaks to run at optimum?

January 31st, 2020

Hi,
I’m considering getting an SSD for my laptop.
I’m just curious if they will work at optimum speeds out of the box, or do they need some kind of complex ‘hit and miss’ tweaking?
OCZ Agility 3 Series SATA-III 2.5 Inch 512GB SSD is what im considering getting.
Any ideas?
Thanks

They come with their own software package which will upgrade your firmware anyway if you choose.
AHCI enabled in bios and a proper speed matching SATA connection (which will be unrealistic if your using a laptop).

So i wont get full speeds, but it should be a good improvement I guess.
