DDR2 RAM

August 4th, 2016

Hey guys, I want to buy some more RAM for my laptop, and had a couple questions. First, is it ok to have two sticks from different companies? And second, what are the best ones out there? Thanks. PS: I currently have a 1gb Corsair DDR2 200 pin 533mhz, and then a 512mb from dell that came with the computer. I was going to order an additional 1gb stick, but wanted to make sure that I could mix up companies and stuff.

just get the same ram that is all don’t worry about companies. i have a ram that is something and other is kingston they work fine don’t worry as long as the other one is DDR2 200 pin 533mhz

get cpu-z (google it, it’s free) and it will ID what you have now, and just match those specs
any name brand will do
I use memory branded the company I buy it from, mwave

nice. thanks for the response guys. so just making sure, each stick has to be the same mhz?
EDIT: I just downloaded that cpu thing, and i found out my Corsair stick is only 266mhz. Should i replace that also with a higher mhz one?
Answer #5
266×2 = 533 so that’s correct
but the dell one should be the same, you check all slots in the dropdown on memory page (or spd page)
alt+print screen pages and slots and post the pics if you r not sure

yup, those look fine
a 1gig stick of PC2-4300 if you can match the corsair part number all the better but any of that spec should work
Answer #8
Hm. So I was looking, and I found a lot of PC2-4200. Does that make a difference? If it does, I’ll have to search a little longer. Thanks for all the help thus far!

go here
http://www.crucial.com/
they also have only 4200 but search by your system or motherboard and see what comes up
then e-mail there support and ask them if it will work at full speed with what you got
