CPU Speed Halving

August 7th, 2016

Basically for the last couple of weeks my CPU has randomly being halving its speed, from 2000MHz to 798MHz and the only way to make it go back to its original speed is to reboot my laptop. Annoying, but it works everytime. Or at least it used to.
Just came on my laptop and it said 798MHz on ThrottleWatch, so rebooted and it remained at 798MHz. I have rebooted now about 6 times and its still the same.
I’ve heard its due to it getting to hot, but my laptop has been switched off for a few hours, so its back to its cool state.
I have an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop with a AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology MK-36 and should be 2GHz.
I have no idea what to do next, is there a way of stopping the processor from halving its speed when it gets too hot, or is there something else I should try.
Any replies will be appreciated as this is really annoying, since I do play a couple of games and this prevents me from doing so.
Thanks.

Right, I’ll reboot in a second and have a look through my BIOS, although I’ve never properly used it before.
If the option isn’t there as I can’t remember anything along the same lines of it the last time I looked through, then is there any other way to get rid of this Cool n Quiet Technology?
And at the minute I’m mainly playing Battlefield 2 or Battlefield 2142.

Yeah and its still the same.
Just been through my BIOS (after updating it) and didn’t find anything related to disable.
