Yeah opening a post is already too time consuming.
It doesn’t take long and much effort to copy and paste links, after that just click code and code again on the bottom.

BTW AMD FX (Bulldozer) processors are to be released on October 12th and are even cheaper than we thought! Eight-core FX-8150 and FX-8120 will carry pricing of just $245 and $205, respectively. As for the six cored FX-6120, that is expected to come in at $175
Think about waiting as these might just be as good as they are expected to be and even if you cant afford it, then too there’s a buzz about price corrections across the board and even other CPUs might get cheaper.

Wait for the Bulldozer to drop, then buy an Intel when prices drop with it.

I doubt that would happen since Intel doesn’t really have a reason to drop prices on current SB models since Bulldozer doesn’t really ‘doze’ SB.

You do know that Intel wants to drop prices, however AMD can sue them for unfair competition.
I presume that socket FM1 is a dead end for upgrading paths and it has an Integrated graphics chip that we wouldn’t use if we are going for a proper video card anyway.
What you should do is in fact, get an AM3+ board with a fairly cheap CPU right now.

I don’t see much point in getting 16 gigabytes of memory unless your into image editing, however that is pretty much overkill anyway.

Yes, his suggestions are good. But I would really recommend you to wait for three weeks and see how Bulldozer turns out to be and its effect on the price of other CPUs.
Below is the Gaming CPU Hierarchy Chart. Please take note that this chart is targeted towards gaming performance and performance for other applications may vary! Try to buy a CPU as high in the chart as possible by your budget. Before you buy a new CPU, make sure that your Motherboard is compatible.

Yes, the thing is you want to ask yourself.
Do I want to constantly replace motherboards to support a new CPU?
If no, AMD is the way to go.
Most games are fairly graphics card intensive, so the money goes to the video card.
Buying mid-range video cards is the best bang for the buck.
