CD-ROm AND DVD-ROM+ReWritable Problem

My CD-rom . . . . . . doesn’t read good cd Some cd read
Some cd not read —- Where is the problem . ..
My COMPUTER :
Toshiba Satelite 1.6 GHZ – 512 MB ( RAM ) – LAPTOP

We need a little more information of whats it doing. You cant just assume we know the problem.
What are you trying to burn? What type of Dvd burner or CD burner is it? What app are you trying to use?

buy a lens cleaner, dont use scratched cd’s

Might work or might not. Tweaking the potentiometer is a try.
Worst case scenario is a dead chip.

clean lens reinstall drive from control panel update drive firmware from makers site may help but its probably the laser going slightly out of alignment Davidtan Tweaking the potentiometer is a try.
