Can’t play online (Left 4 Dead 2)

I’ve went on near enough every topic on this site and i can’t find a solution on how to play online. I’ve tried to connect and it just wont let me.
Can somebody tell me a step by step guide.

I play online using Garena, it works fine for me. The Gani updates for L4D2 work best

The way i did it was:
Left 4 Dead 2 Master Update Version 2.0.2.7
Left 4 Dead 2 Incremental(Mini) Update Version 2.0.2.7-2.0.3.8
Left 4 Dead 2 Incremental(Mini) Update Version 2.0.3.8-2.0.4.5
Standalone Patch – 2.5/R
