Can’t adjust brightness using FN keys on sony vaio

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CS16 (CS series).
I recently reformatted my laptop, and now I cannot use the FN key to adjust my brightness, I can however go into mobile pc settings and do it from there, but I used to be able to do it the faster way. I tried looking on the sony site for a solution, but found nothing. I may be missing the driver, but I have no idea which one I should download (updating my laptop did not help).
I can however adjust the sound using the FN key
How can I fix these two problems?
