Best network programs and tools?

You can’t monitor network activity remotely without some sort of software client on each PC or through a router and I can’t say I know of any consumer grade routers that offer decent stat reporting.
Which program (or programs/program pack) and tool are best for network statistics, bandwith, sharing, etc? I need something to analyze bandwith from my home network and to see each local IP activities. Thank you in advance.
