avoiding tracking dots
November 21st, 2019
So I am trying to get a printer that doesn’t create tracking dotshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Printer_steganography
Now I have some ideas on how to avoid them:
- – buy a printer off this list, that does not print them -> but nearly all of them are expensive as frak and huge, I just want a small printer for my personal use
https://www.eff.org/pages/list-printers-which-do-or-do-not-display-tracking-dots
– all sources I read only speak of laser printers -> does that mean that inkjed printers don’t create them or similar identification methods?
– if I buy a second hand printer, can the serialnumbers or anything else displayed with the dots be backtracked to me? -> the only options for that to happen would be:
- – the printer connects to the net and my IP&his S/N are linked (that can be avoided by offline usage only) – or the first owner bought the printer via credit card and knows my name/adress.
Can anyone give me a feedback on these ideas, I mean if they make sense, if you can prove/disprove them, or just give me a better alternative?
Thanks
Use an ink jet printer and you won’t have a problem
Do you have any source for this or is it just what you think it is? : )
