Assitted Learning Books for Photoshop

OK, what am trying to find out is whether any of these books are actually any good to use along side training vids ( lynda tutorial vids )


And yes I know there’s a CS5 but am looking to learn the capabilities for Photoshop not gain short cuts. I’d rather learn the long way then step up ( least get a background to what its doing when being used )
Was advised may help give another dimension to using just pencil and paper
All insights would be most welcomed.
