Assassins creed lag.

I recently dl’d Assassins creed, i can run it on high detail, no lag at all.
But then, when I get “spotted”, kill someone, …. the screen freezes like 20 seconds.
The sound keeps going but the screen freezes.
my pc is good enough to run it, so that’s not the problem.
can anyone help?
