Alternative for, Raspberry pi as a Nas?

February 5th, 2020

Im looking for a ”Nas” thats very power friendly.
Im not looking for a standard Nas.
Do anyone have an idea to what is better than a raspberry pi And a standard Nas?
And off course affordable.

Answer #1
U Cannot make the raspberry pi faster?
Is that possible?
Answer #2
What’s wrong with a Raspberry Pi, it’s plenty fast enough for a NAS drive if you use a bare bones Linux distribution?
But NAS enclosures don’t generally use that much power anyway. What exactly do you wish to achieve?
Answer #3
I just dont think its fast enough:)
Is there another alternative? an expansion or other?

The bottleneck will be your network, not the Pi, or especially a NAS enclosure. NAS Enclosures are probably the most efficient way of simply making a drive(s) available on the network – that is all they do and that’s what they are designed to do.
The only time you need to look at alternative solutions is when things get complex and you start wanting things like RAID and redundancy, etc. For what you want, a NAS drive is perfectly sufficient.
