Acer Monitor Problem
August 4th, 2016
i have just got a christmas present a new Acer X193w wide screen monitor and ive plugged everything in correct and i can see the screen but there is a little grey box floating around saying input not supported.
any help regarding this would be appreciated
Have you tried plugging it into another computer to test it? It’s rather prudent. Check it and post back. Good luck mate ^_^
Still seem to have the same problem
Are you sure that your graphics card can fully support the monitor in it’s maximum resolution of 1440×900? What model GFX card do you own?
It can support 1600 By 1200 but it does not have the option to have that resolution
It wouldnt be to good the GFX card.
How could i check it.
sorry but i dont know much
It doesn’t matter that much. If it can support up to 1600×1200 (and it’s not even that important for it to support the monitor’s maximum)then the monitor should work perfectly. I can’t think of an explanation as to why the monitor doesn’t detect an input. Check the monitor cable. Check that it’s plug isn’t damaged in any way and that the pins on it are straight and aren’t crooked or broken. Other than that I can’t think of anything else
Sorry mate and good luck ^_^
Anymore help would be great thanks.
Try reducing your refresh rate to 60. Here’s a screenshot on where to change it.

Also, if your monitor supports both RGB(VGA) and DVI, try the other connector.
Hope this helps.
Hey ,
when i go to change it, it just says Monitors Default Settings and no other option
Are you saying that it actually displays a proper image or just blank screen with the no input box ?
Have you also got your old monitor connected to the vga output of your vid card ?
Have you read instructions and installed any software that comes with monitor ?
It displays an image.
Its just a little blury
But then it just has a grey box floating around saying input not supported
but as i said its still a little blury
There may be software you need to install or something
No software came with the monitor.
Can you try these steps to get to the refresh rate screen?
1. Navigate to the Control Pa in Microsoft Windows by left-clicking on Start, followed by Settings and then choosing Control Pa.
2. In the Control Pa window, open Display.
Note: Depending on how your operating system is setup, you may not see the Display icon. To correct this, click on the link on the left-hand side of the Control Pa window that says Switch to Classic View.
3. In the Display Properties window, click on the Settings tab.
4. Toward the bottom of this window, click on the Advanced button. 5. In the resulting window, which may or may not be tittled Plug and Play Monitor..., click on the Monitor tab.
6. Locate the Screen refresh rate drop down box in the middle of the window. Change refresh rate to 60.
7. Click the OK or Apply button to confirm the changes. If prompted, follow any additional on screen directions.
I have tryed that with the new and old monitor but it just comes up with Default Monitor settings.
and you cant change the rate
What sort of video card do you have?
They sometimes have their own control pa eg ATI = catalyst control centre
I have a SIS 315 Integrated not a very good one.
It is possible that you don’t have install the graphic driver as you say you don’t know much.Check in your Gfx card or motherboard (if onboard) and install it..
